2018 Spring Trends, The 90’s & Fashion Week

It’s the beginning of the year so you know what that means... Fashion Week. Right now all of the Designers are showing the upcoming Fall 2018 trends that will be hitting a store near you soon! Or maybe soon is a stretch but these trends will inevitably make it to a fast fashion store near you. Fashion week is always a year ahead in trends. Therefore, at the end of last year we got to see all of the upcoming Spring 2018 trends. While everyone is looking to the 2018 runway trends for style inspo, I’m finding that my inspiration is coming from somewhere completely different.

I’ve recently been diving into the past and I have to say, I feel so inspired by the Spring Runway Shows of the 90’s. You could quite literally grab a look from several of the runways shows, toss them into a current show and no one would be the wiser. So while everyone is showing all of the latest 2018 trends they’re into, I want to show you a few of the past 90’s trends I’m loving. Which for all you know are currently trends anyway!

The first look that inspired me was a Perry Ellis look from their Spring Ready-To-Wear 1993 show.

I mean where do I even start with the AMAZING-ness that is this look??? First let’s talk about this patent leather trench that would sell out at any Zara immediately! That length is everything and pretty hard to find today. We know patent leather or PVC has been making a major comeback and everything about this looks screams at me exactly why.

The combination of the sheer crop top with an almost fishnet like feel and the flowing bottoms totally bring this look together for me. If I were to take this look and truly bring it current, the one thing I would alter is turning those bottoms into a highwaist fit. Changing that one key element would completely fool you into thinking this look was current.

The next look that completely inspired me was this one. It gave me all the Cardi B and Bruno Mars “Finess” feels...

EVERYTHING about this look screams Spring! I wish I could snatch this outfit off her body and wear it! I’m majorly into mixing prints right now and my favorite print to mix with any other patterns are stripes. Although I’ve definitely mixed florals and stripes together, there’s something about this mix that’s just completely unexpected but in a good way. I’m pretty certain I could recreate a similar look from thrift store soooo.... I’m thinking my next video idea maybe???

Bringing back the 90s with a vengence!

I mean look at this photo. Tell me we couldn’t throw her look on anyone in this video and make it work!

While stripes have been making a serious comeback recently, I have a feeling they’re really going to hit HUGE come Spring and Summer.

If only I could Thrift the perfect pair of vertical striped, multicolored denim I’d be a REALLY happy camper. I’m definitely keeping my eye out.

The last look that inspired me was a Versace look that did a REALLY good job of mixing pastels, florals and stripes.

Nevertheless, just staring at these pictures gave me major outfit inspo for spring and for sure got all of my creative juices flowing. Which look was your favorite?
